Darius Oancia is pursuing a five-year degree in the field of construction engineering at the University of Bucharest. He intends to complete an additional year for specialization, requiring a total of six years to achieve his educational goal. He has dreams for the future of being a construction engineer, and/or a teacher of construction techniques.
Darius comes from a modest family living near in the outskirts of Bucharest. He has two younger brothers still at school, in class 5 and class 12. His mother is retired and unable to earn a salary, while his father is employed as a security guard. The monthly family income is very inadequate for a family of five.
Darius is involved in the Catholic parish of Bucuresti Noi, and he was recommended for a scholarship by his parish priest, Fr. Martin Cabalas. He is a serious boy, refined, and a hard worker, with little free time. The small bit of free time that he does have is spent volunteering for his church in a variety of capacities.
His scholarship is sponsored by Richard Neilan, offered in memory of his friend Trevor Gravenhorst.
