Nicolae Dragosin Nicolae Dragosin is originally from Alexandria in the Teleorman region of southern Romania. As a high school student, Nicolae won eleven regional and national awards for his performance in literature, history, and traditional Romanian icon painting. He is the author of several award-winning essays, including a reflection piece on "How communism has affected my family," which he submitted to the Civic Academy Foundation's Memorial of the Communism Victims and its Resistance.
Nicolae has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and activism. As a high school student, he was instrumental in establishing a column in the local daily newspaper titled: "Civic Debate: Young person, your opinion counts." In 2002, he was awarded a diploma of honor for his collaboration with Fundatia Memento, an organization which keeps alive the memory of those detained in the fight against communism. Nicolae currently serves as president of the Association Youth for Community Teleorman, an organization whose mission is to encourage young people to become involved in community service for their local area.
Nicolae is currently enrolled in a dual-degree program in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics at Universitatea Politehnica in Bucharest and in Political Science at Bucuresti University. He will graduate with a major in Mechatronics and a minor in Political Science. As a university student, he has continued to win awards for his writing on topics such as local and national identity, Romanian educational reform, and globalization. Nicolae regards his educational pursuits as a tool to become a well-prepared representative of his country, and he ultimately plans to enter into a career in political theology.
